Six ways I can help
Six services, and one honest answer about which of them your project actually needs. Nothing here is sold by the hour or by the job title — it is sold by what your draft is missing.
Most people arrive knowing the state of their draft, not the name of the job. Find the line that sounds like yours. If none of them fit, send it over and I will tell you which it is — including when the answer is the cheaper one.
Manuscripts and copy checked for error, and improved for flow.
There is no single job called editing. A proofread catches what is wrong; a line edit changes how it sounds; a structural edit changes what order it happens in. Ask for the wrong one and you pay for work you did not need, or get back a file that still has the problem you were worried about.
Send a sample and I will tell you which level your draft actually needs, even when that is the cheaper one.
Text for your website, marketing and emails — in your voice, not mine.
Copywriting is writing from scratch, or rewriting so heavily that it amounts to the same thing. If your text already exists and mostly works, you probably want editing instead — it costs less and keeps more of you in it.
Portuguese to English, with the nuance carried across.
Translated, not swapped over. Some words do not cross — _saudade_ has no English equivalent, so the decision is whether to keep it and let the sentence carry the meaning. Those choices come back to you as notes, not as silent edits.
Covers and print and digital marketing media, in Adobe Creative Suite.
Design here means the object around the writing: the cover someone judges the book by, and the marketing that carries it. It is a separate job from formatting, which is the inside of the book rather than the outside.
Texts prepared for publication in InDesign, WordPress or Canva.
Formatting is the inside of the book: margins, running heads, where a chapter starts, and what happens to a long line of poetry when the page is narrower than the poet imagined. Printers reject files for this more often than for anything else.
An accurate rendering of your book, leaflet or magazine before it exists.
A mock-up is the sales tool you need before you have stock, and the last chance to notice that the spine text is too tight. The poet approved a cover by holding the render up to a shelf.
